Our Audience

According to a 2021 scientific review by SPARK (Simons Powering Autism Research), 50 to 70% of autistic individuals experience hypersensitivity to everyday sounds at some point in their lives—a challenge also shared by many without autism.

In addition to individuals with autistm, people with ADHD may find abrupt sounds distracting or emotionally challenging, while those with epilepsy face risks of seizures triggered by specific auditory cues.

Individuals with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) may struggle with processing unexpected or loud sounds, and those living with anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, or trauma histories can benefit from trigger warnings to help manage anxiety and reduce distress.

Despite the significant number of people affected, online protections and resources to reduce exposure to triggering sounds—especially on video and streaming platforms—remain scarce.

By addressing these diverse needs, this tool aims to provide a safer, more inclusive, and enjoyable viewing experience for everyone.
